About us

Hutchins Bros was established in 1980 as a partnership between brothers Stewart and Graham Hutchins to build farm sheds. Following early years of success the pair made the decision to expand the business, moving it into the township of Narrandera, constructing a workshop facility at 104 Douglas Street in 1982. In 1985, Graham Hutchins decided to leave the business and pursue other interests. His half share was purchased by Stewart.

Stewart and his wife Jenny ran the business together for some 18 years, finally branching into major industrial structural steel fabrication in 1995. In 2004 Stewart sold a 50% stake in the business to his son Bill Hutchins and his wife Heidi, who now manage the business in Stewart’s semi-retirement. Bill having undertaken and completed a welding apprenticeship with the company back in the 1990’s, has 18 years of experience in the field. Heidi has an honors degree in Building Construction Management and fifteen years of experience in construction contract administration and property finance. Refer to their bios below.

Hutchins Bros employs 22 staff including directors and has a workshop throughput capacity of 30-50T per week depending on the intricacy of the work at hand. Through its industry alliances Hutchins Bros can provide the entire Structural Steel package, from design, shop detailing right through to fabrication, finishing and erection.

In January 2009 the company relocated to a new larger purpose built facility at Red Hill Industrial Estate, Narrandera. The 18,000sqm facility includes a new 1120sqm fabrication workshop with overhead crane and a dedicated 960sqm sandblasting and painting building with a modern 6m wide x 5m high x 21m long auto recovery blast chamber for surface preparation. Three large extraction filter fans are located along the eastern wall of the building providing a safe working environment for all weather spray painting. This new facility has allowed Hutchins Bros to take on larger projects and provide greater efficiency in production
